Invitation

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of the KCM Clinic S.A. Board we would like to invite you to the KCM hospital in Jelenia Góra to participate in the Scientific-Training Conference with LIVE transmission from the operating room taking place on November 29-30, 2019

Our conference, devoted to modern techniques in minimally-invasive spine surgery will be conducted along with LIVE broadcast from the operating theatre, with real-time discussion between neurosurgeons and participants. The conference is dedicated to neurologists, orthopedists, surgeons and neurosurgeons as well as physiotherapists and anyone interested in achievements and techniques in minimally invasive spine surgery and professional rehabilitation.

We hope that the interactive form of our conference, LIVE workshops with the possibility of analyzing operational techniques, direct conversations with international operators and physiotherapists, as well as the possibility of joint analysis of the actual operational results of the transmitted operations will be interesting.

Our conference is one of the periodical meetings devoted to minimally-invasive neurosurgery and specialist spine rehabilitation, organized by KCM – Lower Silesian Center for Low Invasive Spine Neurosurgery under the supervision of Dr Stanisław Kwiek, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof., Neurosurgeon.

All conference participants will receive certificates and educational points.

We invite you to beautiful Jelenia Góra situated within picturesque Giant Mountains. We will be pleased to welcome you at our conference!

Monika Mikulicz-Pasler, MD, President of KCM Clinic SA

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

On November 29-30, 2019 at KCM Clinic in Jelenia Góra we are organising an International Spine Surgery Conference with LIVE surgery broadcast from the operating theatre of the spine surgeries.

I would like to invite you to our Conference about minimally invasive neurosurgical treatment, focused on endoscopy in lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine diseases with presentation of our over 12 years’ experience.

The development of endoscopy techniques in treatment of the brain and spine disorders have allowed to significantly improve results in treating patients with multiple diseases in those areas. Moreover, the endoscopic spinal surgery as a less invasive technique minimizes consequently a possibility of serious intra- and post-operative complications. Additionally, the neuroendoscopy replaces traditional neurosurgical surgeries in both brain and spine.

The idea of minimally invasive endoscopy has been close to my heart for many years because of a very good patient outcome and safety of the treatment.

As early as 1997, I have personally performed a surgery on hydrocephalus patient using endoscopic ventriculostomy. This was the first surgery of its kind in the south of Poland. Since then, I have performed many endoscopic surgeries with very good clinical patients’ results. Many of those surgeries have been documented in various scientific publications, including the most renowned European neurosurgical publication Acta Neurochirurgica Wien.

The traditional surgeries with removal of central brain tumour, among others in a ventricular system area always carry a high patient complication risk.  Most of those extensive operations can be replaced by a neuroendoscopy. Using an endoscope, an experienced neurosurgeon can remove a brain tumour such as the third ventricle colloid cyst, lowering the risk of potential complications in comparison to the traditional neurosurgery.

I have personally performed over 300 endoscopic brain surgeries with minimally complication rate, probably one of the highest number in Europe. This achievement in minimally invasive brain surgery has been documented in the scientific publication of Polish Journal of Neurology and Neurosurgery with a high Impact Factor, as well as in many other renowned world medical journals.

We have decided to organise our Conference to share with you our over 11 years of experience in minimally invasive neurosurgical treatment of patients with cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine disorders, applying endoscopic technique in particular. During that period of time we have performed over 3500 endoscopic surgeries of herniated discs.

Neuroendoscopy of the spine is in my opinion more difficult, than of the brain. To achieve the best possible result in treatment of those patients, a postoperative professional physiotherapeutic care and exact cooperation between surgeon and physiotherapist is absolutely crucial and indispensable.

So far the long-term positive results of such treatment scheme are appreciated by about 98% of our patients. The percentage of minor and moderate postoperative complications in our patients ranges from 0.5 to 1%. Serious complications equal 0%.

After having a very good experience of endoscopic treatments in lumbar and thoracic segments of spine, we decided as a first neurosurgery center in Poland, to introduce the endoscopy on cervical spine.

We have been waiting for a long time for a neuroendoscope in diameter less than 5 mm to be applied on cervical spine. Such micro endoscope in diameter of 3.5 mm with HD camera and a working channel has now been developed.

I am happy to tell you, we have already had some meaningful experience in spinal endoscopic treatments and until today all our patients are satisfied.

We are trying to pass on our experience and skills to surgeons and therapists who treat spine disorders both here in Poland and abroad, as there are very few centres worldwide where successful endoscopic treatments of herniated discs in cervical section of spine are performed.

This Conference will include a live surgery broadcast from the operating theatre. I shall be performing these operations myself  and you will have a possibility of real time discussion about each transmitted surgery, spine condition, techniques and methods of minimally invasive treatment, which is most valuable from surgical and patient’s point of view .

The closing of the Conference is the moment when all the patient who were operated on the day before will be discharged. This will be live transmitted to our conference room.

You are cordially invited,

With best regards:

Stanisław J. Kwiek, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof., Neurosurgeon
